An ad built for Instagram rarely fits LinkedIn

Most ad creatives start life as a square or a tall social post. LinkedIn's classic single image ad is the opposite: a wide 1.91:1 rectangle that sits above a headline, much like a shared article. Drop a square in and it is cropped to a strip.

CreativeResize reshapes the creative you already have into the three shapes LinkedIn accepts, so the same campaign can run there without a redesign.

Getting a clean result

  • Going wide loses half the height

Cropping a square to 1.91:1 keeps only about 52% of its height. If your headline sits near the top or bottom, use Fit or Background so the whole creative stays in view.

  • Keep it plain for a professional feed

With Fit, choose a background colour that matches your brand or the ad itself. A flat, matching band looks deliberate on LinkedIn, where a busy blurred backdrop can feel out of place.

  • Check the file size before uploading

LinkedIn limits single image ads to 5 MB. JPG exports from CreativeResize are far below that. A large, detailed PNG can be bigger, so glance at the size shown under each result.

Questions

What size should a LinkedIn single image ad be?

1200 × 628 pixels (1.91:1) is the standard landscape size. 1200 × 1200 (1:1) is the square alternative, and 4:5 vertical images are accepted for mobile.

Can I use my Facebook ad image on LinkedIn?

Yes, if it is the right shape. A Facebook landscape image at 1200 × 628 works as it is. A feed or square image should be resized so LinkedIn does not crop it.

Does LinkedIn accept PNG images for ads?

Yes. LinkedIn accepts JPG and PNG, which are the two types CreativeResize exports.
